Armenian Folk song, “It is cold in the bathhouse. I am cold,” from the disk, “Petak,” jointly issued by Michael Aslan, Zaza by nationality and, Akounq ensemble. The song was recorded by Komitas’ disciple Mihran Tumachan from Mama Jalalyan and her daughter-in-law. The refrain is sung also in Turkish, and the meaning is the same as that of the Armenian variant. As in many songs Turkish words have penetrated into many songs, so have foreign melodies which is apparent in this song. The heroes of the song are a girl and a guy, both of them from lower class. It can be supposed that the girl is a maid in one of the rich men’s house in the city. The guy works in the bathhouse of the same master. The girl goes to the bathhouse to have a bath, and the guy, attracted by her beauty forgets to heat the it. Now it is cold and the girl complains of it. She threatens that she will tell their master. Thy guy justifies that it is because of her beauty, her look, her eyes and brows. He can do nothing but admire her.
