The quadrates lumborum (QL) is often the naggy muscle limiting us after a low back strain or injury. However, it can sometimes get overlooked. The QL is responsible for extending and lateral bending, so if it is irritated, we can have some difficulty bending over. A tight or irritated QL can also have an effect on our hip/glute activation. To mobilize the tissue grab a lacrosse ball to perform a muscle release to help with some of the tightness you are experiencing.
