Here’s a lesson from Joe Filisko and Eric Noden’s Mississippi Groove for Guitar and Harmonica workshop. This approach is inspired by the blues duo of Mississippi Fred McDowell and Johnny Woods. You’ll need a diatonic harmonica in the key of A and a 6 string guitar in standard tuning to follow along. We break down Riff Number 5 using tongue blocking on the harmonica and finger and thumb picking on the guitar to create a multi-layered groove.
