Old woman are often raped in Kenya. Men believe that having sex with them cures HIV. In the Kenyan capital’s slums there is a self-defense club to protect women. Here the elderly are taught to fight back: to hit rapists and shout to scare them. Classes are beneficial as it has saved many women. ’Since I joined that group, I feel strong and I have no fear,’ says 78-year-old local resident Esther Wambui Muriethi.
