The Pectoralis Minor is a shy little fella hiding under the Pectoralis Major. It originates from the 3rd-5th ribs, where the rib connects to the cartilage. It’s composed of three muscular branches that connect and insert together in the scapula (coracoid process). It makes 3 actions: 🔹Scapula protraction with downward rotation. 🔹Stabilizes the scapula. 🔹When the scapula is fixed: It raises the ribs and thus helps in inhalation. Weakening of the Pectoralis minor may cause increased respiratory difficulty for people who already experience difficulty in this breathing. It’s a muscle that gets easily shortened, which may lead to rounded shoulders and bad posture, and limit the shoulder flexion range. So it’s crucial to stretch it! See how at the end of the video.
