Aikido blocks (HARAI, also spelled BARAI) and techniques by Stefan Stenudd against the kicks MAEGERI (front kick), MAWASHIGERI (roundhouse kick), and USHIROGERI (backwards kick). The blocks are not obstructing the kicks, but leading them on forward, so parries would be a better name for them. Therefore, the aikido technique has to start with taisabaki, the evasive movement to the attacker's side. Immediately after this initial move, the aikido technique is commenced. The blocks are similar in striking attacks. Four aikido techniques against kicks are shown in the video: kotegaeshi, ikkyo, iriminage, and kokyuho. The attacker is Tony Johansson, and Mattias Enguis held the camera. Recorded in 2010. This is a new edit of two videos posted in 2010: The quality is improved in the edit, but still far below the level of contemporary videos. I did what I could.
