In this video, we're looking at the line from 1874 between Biel and La Chaux-de-Fonds. From there we'll be following the line continuing to Le Locle as part of the line from Neuchâtel to La Chaux-de-Fonds completed in 1860 (see video: ). While the line to Neuchâtel was being renewed, regional trains services from Biel were extended from La Chaux-de-Fonds to Le Locle. Our video is of one such train, albeit in another season from La Chaux-de-Fonds onwards. Before the opening of the Grenchenberg line in 1915, that we've looked at previously (link: ), this line served as the international connection between Biel - Moutier - Delémont - Delle - Belfort. Afterwards, it was downgraded to a branch line. Enjoy the scenery as we climb close to 600 metres on our journey through the Jura mountains towards the French border.
