The final battle... Just before it, there's a short area with some bug Mechaniloids. I don't know what are they doing here, but OK. OST here is... well, it's alright, but I actually like X1's version better. Stage 4 theme sounds different because of the change in atmosphere. X has just seen his friend die in his hands, all of his comrades were killed by him twice and if he'll make just one mistake... X meets Sigma and the following dialogue is filled with anger and hatred from the former, while the latter is talking with a happy tone of the voice. Sigma decides to test the hunter first by asking him to fight his dog, Velguarder. This puppy dies in one hit with Hadouken, but I can't execute it on my keyboard so you'll probably see the actual fight for the first time. Velguarder is good at acrobatics and can breath fire and ice, but with one set-up of Charge Shots he dies pretty quickly. His weaknes is actually Shotgun Ice, but Charge Shot worked better. Also this dog sounds like a panther, say what? Velguarder exploads and after another dialogue with X being even more angry, Sigma tells that he now have seen the true potential of X and agrees to fight the Irregular Hunter. This fight is a little harder in IHX, especually when the room does not fit the screen. But I didn't have much trouble with it as I remember. Sigma is now REALLY impressed by X's abilities. He's now standing half dead and laughing like crazy... before detaching his head off his body and attaching it to a body of a huge unfinished wolf Repliroid. This is another favorite moment of mine from the remake - X now calls Sigma only as Irregular Sigma. This aspect got lost in the localization, sadly. But this shows the progression of X's relationship with Sigma, ending on not longer calling him Commander Sigma, and not even just Sigma. The final fight starts... Even though I was stuck at it for just one hour, it felt like I was trying to kill him for 6 hours non-stop. Wolf Sigma here is much more energetic than in X1 and it knows more moves now. And all of these new moves are really dangerous. His weakness is still Rolling Shield, by the way. All of my Sub-Tanks are now empty, I have almost no health left, pretty much like Sigma himself, but I don't give up and deal the final blow on 22:25 (MSK) on 31st of October, 2020. Sigma exploads and X barely escapes, ending up on a cliff right next to a blue ocean where Sigma Palace crashlands. The Sun rises once again... ...and this fight is finally over. The iconic ending from X1 gets replaced with epilogue unique to Irregular Hunter X. We get to see Dr. Cain's memories of listening to Dr. Right's final message left by him in his laboratory with X that was sealed away hundrend years ago. While the audio goes, we can see how X goes on another mission, but now alone, without his recently passed.... Thomas Right's message explains how X posseses something that no other robot in the world at the time of the recording possesses, which lets him to worry and evolve as a person... and that he himself will not be able to see this come true because human life is short. Right worries that in the future X might not be able to live peacefully as he might get swept by the wars that humans call 'progression', probably referring to something that happened after Dr. Cain created Repliroids who were not able to fully follow X's blueprints. And in the very end, Dr. Right urges people to remember that X is the world's hope. He's the Rockman. At least this is what I remember from seeing English version of this final scene. And after I wasn't able to see any cliffhangers for Irregular Hunter X2 that I thought were in the game, I finally understood what this actually WAS. It WAS it's own story with the beginning and the end. It can stand on its own and exist in its own timeline, being a fully completed story... Maybe it could have gotten the continuation for real, like the rumors suggest, but it didn't happen. But IHX is still able to stand on its own. And, well, you might ask me why did I write WAS everywhere and not IS?... Sadly, this is the current state of X-series. Capcom ignored the fact it was something different. When 25th anniversary happened, they released X1\2 Anniversary Collections that featured The Day of Sigma OVA animated for IHX... that was advertised as the backstory of Sigma... and Irregular Hunter X wasn't even on the list of the playable games, let alone actually mentioned. And now those are ONE story and everyone can easily mash together the assets from both DIFFERENT in the end stories... It's just insulting... But, well, this is something we need to deal with. As a stand-alone title, I really liked IHX and would actually prefer it over the original of, again, The Day of Sigma did not exist... Oh. If only you and me could look at your face right now #MegaManMaverickHunterX #MMMHX #MegaManXRemake #X1Remake #IrregularHunterX #IHX #イレギュラーハンターX
