The Northrop HL-10 was one of the Lifting Bodies used by NASA for research flights at Edwards AFB in the 1960s-70s. The Lifting Body shapes explored possible re-entry vehicle configurations. The HL-10 was powered with a single XLR-11 rocket motor, similar to that used in the original X-1 research rocket plane of the late 1940s. Fly with the HL-10 as it climbs away from its famous B-52 mother ship and returns to land on the hard bed of Rogers Dry Lake. Have you subscribed to the Airailimages Channel on YouTube?
