Rothenburg ob der Tauber Christmas Market, 2015 Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a German town in northern Bavaria. We arrived in late November for the opening of the Rothenberg Rider’s Christmas Market, one of the oldest in Europe. The market is named after a feared horseman believed to be from another world, who glides through the winter skies with old souls. Rothenburg is known for its medieval architecture. Half-timbered houses line the cobblestone lanes of its old town. The city walls include many preserved gate houses and towers, plus a covered walkway on top. Stunningly beautiful any time of year, especially covered in snow.
