Servus! Today we explore the picturesque town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Bavaria in Southern Germany. The town boasts a rich history dating back to 1170. The city was located in a central location on the crossroads of multiple medieval trade routes and grew and prospered until the Thirty Years War. The Thirty Years War disrupted Rothenburg’s growth but the city was rediscovered by romantic artists in the 19th century due to its well-preserved medieval architecture. Nowadays this historic gem is a popular destination for tourists both from Germany as well as from all over the world, who flock to the town to witness its picturesque old town. In this video we will explore this gorgeous well-preserved medieval old town with its beautiful half-timbered houses, imposing gothic churches, and multiple towers.
