In late 1990, The Beatnix performed A Hard Day's Night live-to-air on The Ray Martin Midday Show on TCN9. The musicians performing as The Beatnix on this track were Bruce Coble (myself, as “John“), Steven Shipley (as “Paul“), Marcus Phelan (as “George“) & John Taylor (as “Ringo“). This was my second time on the Midday Show & my second live-to-air performance on national TV, & while I looked like John Lennon at this time, I clearly hadn't managed to emulate his vocal delivery at this stage. Luckily we did have the dulcet tones of Steven Shipley to bring the vocal sound back to a decent Beatles footing. In my defense, I never used to wear those black “Lennon“ hats at live gigs, and for some strange reason I decided to wear it for the first time on TV, only realising once I started playing that my face was going to be in near-darkness unless I lifted my head up at an unnatural angle.
