Iodine is needed to make thyroid hormones, T3 and T4. In childhood development, if the child is deficient in iodine or the mother who is pregnant with the child is deficient, the child could end up with a smaller brain, lower mental capacity, lower IQ, and overall won’t develop and grow into its full potential.
