Dreamcast Doom 64: Doom 64 Compendium: Here is an update to @jnmartin84's Dreamcast Doom 64! He has the bulk of everything working now. The gameplay, music, sounds, and graphics are in. It has been a journey getting the graphics and audio going in memory. On the Nintendo 64, Doom 64 was able to stream a lot of the assets from the cart. Well the CD read speeds are not fast enough to stream everything. Thus the graphics have to all be loaded into memory at once. This required a few changes of file formats to get the ton of sprites that Doom 64 has into memory. A while back, @jnmartin84 and I were talking about the Dreamcast, about how cool would it be to be able to burn Doom 64 mods onto CDs and share them. In a lot of ways, with its single analog-stick controller, the Dreamcast felt like a successor to the Nintendo 64. Doom 64 was really designed around a single analog-stick, so it just feels right on the Dreamcast.
