Shoulder Blade Positioning & Calisthenics For most of our calisthenics exercises, the shoulder blade positioning we use plays a crucial role for awareness, proper technique, stability, and improving performance. It’s important to be aware of them and how they are applied towards different calisthenic exercises. 4 main shoulder blade positions we use and that you’ll hear are: Retraction Protraction Elevation Depression We use a combination of these positions during different exercises to set ourselves up for proper technique, keep our shoulders set/safe, and for solid execution to improve performance.
