Members of the Paschimbanga Chattro Samaj, a student movement, battled with police officers during a 'March to Nabanna' in Howrah's Santragachi. During the rallies, some students stormed the police barriers and yelled chants demanding justice for the trainee doctor who was reportedly raped and killed at Kolkata's R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital. In reaction to the demonstrations, police used canons to spray water at the demonstrators. The student organization's march to the Secretariat included Bangladeshi chants.
