Thousands of people marched across India overnight on August 14 as anger escalated over the rape and murder of a doctor in the eastern part of the country. Protests took place in cities such as Kolkata, where the 31-year-old doctor was found dead last Friday. Police said she had been raped and murdered, and a police volunteer was subsequently arrested in connection with the crime. On the streets of Kolkata on Wednesday night, protesters held candles and posters that said “reclaim the night”. #protest #india #doctor
