Moritz Huemer, violoncello (class of Prof. Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Bachelor of Music) Naoko Sonoda, piano Henri Vieuxtemps cultivated a particularly intense relationship with the cello. With the Belgian cellist Adrien-François Servais, he had a close friendship. From this, among other things, the Grand duo on Themes from Meyerbeer's Opera “Les Huguenots“ for violin and cello as well as “Les Arpèges“, Caprice for violin and orchestra with obligato cello op. 15 emerged. His son Joseph Servais, who was principal cellist at the Musikkapelle of the Grand Duke in Weimar from 1868 to 1870, he devoted two cello concertos.
