This video lesson describes buckling as a structural instability in which a structure experiences rapid sideways deformation, such as the crushing of a soda can. The structure loses stiffness and load bearing capacity to an extent. If it regains some of this capacity, the phenomenon is called local buckling. It is part of the Ansys Innovation Course: Structural Instabilities.
