Vishnu is one of the three main deities and, along with Brahma and Shiva, is considered as the Trimoortis in Hinduism. He is the most Supreme deity of Vaishnavism. Vishnu is the Preserver and guardian, which means he protects the universe and appears on earth in various incarnations (avatars) to maintain cosmic harmony. Among the ten avatars most famous are Rama and Krishna. Vishnu’s consort is Lakshmi, the goddess of fortune.
