This is a first interpretation on Figueyredo regra XIII simple, called “guarda capa“ (guardin cloak). (Here the source and the great English translation by Eric Myers and Steve Hick ) Sorry for the bad video quality: it is an improvised footage took months ago that then I decided to share online. The rule was performed with a wood staff in order to make confidence with motion and speed without dealing with the heavy weight of montante or spadone. I was introducing the rule to other club mates with less experience. As you can see, the rule is performed to keep safe someone who went to the ground because of a wound, because unconscious or just to cover himself from the enemies. This is a performance not ruined by speed but as you can see, especially in the end of the video, the need not to stomp the person between your legs force you to pay attention and on the long run you can even lose the right sequence of stepping and cuts. Even though this last situation does not
