Purchase my original paintings here: Support me on Patreon: Today I'm painting a simple impressionist (or semi abstract) misty Autumn woodland scene with slender trees as the focus, and salt effects in the foreground to suggest dry autumn seedheads, thistledown, brambles etc. I'm using a limited palette of Indigo, burnt sienna, paynes grey and burnt umber. I painted an abstract, free-flowing wet in wet background and added salt for texture and left it to dry. The idea is to try to let go and paint a wet in wet subtle, eathy abstract Autumn colours as loosely as possible, aiming to keep it fresh, loosely painted and kept really simple, and lighter across the lower sky to show off the tree shapes. Then the trees painted in loosely, the closer ones quite dark, the distant ones very pale so that they almost disappear into the background. I'm using Millford 100% cotton hot press 140lb/300g weigh
