Airdate: November 16, 1963 “Who Put The Bomp…..” (one of my all-time favorites) peaked at #7 back in Oct. 1961. Songwriters Barry Mann and Gerry Goffin wrote the song in about 5 minutes during a “playful experiment” they did one day to see how many songs they could write in 30 minutes. The song pokes fun at the gibberish words used commonly in songs at the time including “Blue Moon” and “Pony Time”. While this was Barry’s only hit that he performed, he would go on to write many hit songs (with his wife Cynthia Weil) including “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling”, “Kicks”, “Hungry”, “Make Your Own Kind of Music”, “Don’t Know Much”, “Walking in the Rain”, “Blame It On the Bossa Nova”, “On Broadway”, and many others. Regulars Bruce Richard and Barbara Warchol can be seen dancing throughout the song including at 2:06. Mike Barone with Ailyene Silverman and Bobby Baritz with Michelle Liebowitz can also be seen at 0:43. The final week of Camelot…. Join us on Saturday Nov. 16 for this full, 40 minute episode which aired just 6 days before President Kennedy was tragically assassinated in Dallas.
