Gene Chandler (born Eugene Drake Dixon and nicknamed “The Duke of Earl“; July 6, 1937) is an American singer, songwriter, music producer and record label executive. He is known best for his most successful song “Duke of Earl“ in the 1960’s. This is his 1978 hit ’Get Down’ that reached #53 in the US Billboard charts and #11 in the UK.
