Anyone who knows me knows what a huge Ronnie Dove fan I am. Ronnie himself knows who I am because i sent him a couple of rare recordings a few years back that Ronnie did not have. Listen to Ronnie being interviewed by Ronnie Allen on the Jersey Girls Sing! website and you'll even hear my name get mentioned. Anyway, this song goes back to the early history of Ronnie's singing career. First came the Lover Boy single on Dove records in 1959, then came this, his second release, from the summer of 1961 (some sources say 1963 however that is incorrect, as releases before and after this were reviewed in Billboard magazines in July 1961. After that was the Jalo single of Sadest Song (Of The Year) from 1962, and after that Ronnie parted from the Beltones and shot to fame as a solo artist for the Diamond record label. The rest is history. This record has been comped on bootlegs, and since the master tape for it perished in Universal's vault fire that destroyed thousands of tapes and laquers from the 1950's and 1960's, i don't see how Universal could object to me posting this record they never planned to reissue themselves anyway. I keep hoping that someday Ronnie would issue a “Lost Recordings“ cd with his early tunes and other tracks that he recorded that have never made it to cd, because this is one i'm sure all of his fans would love to hear and have a copy of on cd. As always, when I am doing my internet radio shows, i will try to slip in at least one Ronnie Dove record per show when I am able to, and you can hear great records like this one live every night of the week on .
