Primitive fishing teaches patience and the reward for that patience is a delicious meal that has greater value. Adding the abundance of wild fruit to the regional gastronomy makes the meal even that much better. The fishing rod is made of a branch from a currant bush. The eyes of the rod are made of clay and tied to the branch with yucca cordage. The fishing line is made of 50% yucca fibers and 50% my hair. The sliding sinker is just a clay bead I made. And the hook is an ocotillo cactus thorn. To cook the fish I created a friction fire using the bow drill method with unknown materials. I burned branches for about half an hour until there was a nice bed of hot coals then I made a grill by cross weaving split green willow branches. I placed the grill with the whole gutted fish over the coals and allowed it to cook for about twelve minutes. I flipped it over one time during the cooking process. It was delicious! --------- Contents of this video ---------- 00:00 intro 03:50 catching the first fish 06:50 trying another spot 10:06 gathering manzanita berries 11:35 friction fire 13:32 cooking the fish My social media links: Instagram @chadzuberofficial Facebook @ChadZAdventure If you want a good pair of all terrain adventure sandals then you can help support this channel by following this link to get your own Luna Sandals.
