Hi, I’m Jessie! I’m part of the teaching team with MyCharleston and here are a few of my favourite moves to combine with the Charleston step. Charleston & Windmill - The windmill (also known as Helicopter, Cowtail and Fan) is a great move to combine with a Charleston as it adds a circular shapes to your dancing. The trick with a windmill kick is to let the foot relax to get the momentum when creating the circle with your kick. Pushes- a simple move but a fun one to add into any sequence. The important thing with pushes is to flex your hands and feet to get the right silhouette. Charleston & Rocks - Rocks (Also known as Halleujah or Hail Mary) are perfect for adding height and changes of direction so you don’t get stuck in one place. Flicks - Another classic step which is a simple way to add swivels whilst on the spot. Waterfall - One of time favourites as it adds a lot of height and it uses every part of the body. Don’t forget a cheeky wink to finish!
