Following approximately an hour of heightened seismic activity and ground deformation, the eruption commenced at 3:13 p.m. on the same day. The video showcases lava fountains near the eastern rim of Halemaʻumaʻu crater, reaching heights of up to 130 feet (40 m). Notably, this summit eruption in Kīlauea is contained within a restricted area of Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, with the primary concern being elevated levels of volcanic gas.
