“Yeah, when George came through, he was looking for musicians to record and Ranie Burnette and them guys told him about me. I was working on the plantation then cutting silage. They brought him over to my house and he come up there and asked me could I play and could he record it. Said it was just for him to sit around the house and listen to. Then it was all-new, and I said okay. He brought some whiskey and a case or two of beer. We sat up until one or two that night and finally got it done. He went on back and called me eight or ten months later asked if he could make a record out of it. I said sure. A week or so later he sent me a copy. And that got me on the road.” --R.L.
