Aiki Ken Jodan Kamae ushiro - 2 variations The concept here is to adopt jodan kamae (as in the 2nd aiki ken suburi), and then defend to the rear. I have subdivided the two defenses: the 1st goes to the right of the flank line of attack, and the 2nd to the left. Note: In the 2nd variation I am doing a counterclockwise turn and stepping off the line of attack to the left with my left foot first, and then adjusting my right foot into the rear of the new hanmi – at a slight angle inwards toward uchi tachi. All of these variations are based on the basic Aiki Ken suburi as taught by Morihiro Saito Sensei. My intention is to always keep to the forms of our basic training - and then practice moving/countering in other directions than we usually do in our Aiki Ken curriculum, but still staying within the principles we have been taught by Saito Sensei.
