Earliest representations of this instrument are found in the early 1500s. But it also survives today in eastern European folk music. Also known as the Bladder Bow, Bow Bladder, Bladder and String, Poispill (estonian), Basse de Flandres (french, bass of Flanders) , basse à boyau (french, gut string) , Bum Fiddle, and probably more!
