Reviews of weather events, natural disasters, astronomical phenomena and wildlife around the world Heavy and prolonged rains have led to rising river levels and flooding in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, Malay Mail reports. Some areas have seen 400 mm (16 inches) of rain, according to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall Corporate Planning Department (DBKL). The city's central weather station recorded 114 mm (4.6 inches) of rain per hour. Traffic in the city was paralyzed in the morning hours due to flooded roads. The lower tiers of multi-level interchanges and low-lying areas of the city were completely under water. Several schools had to be urgently evacuated due to the rapid rise in water levels. Dozens of cars were washed away by floodwaters or submerged. In total, the flooding affected about 2 million people living in the Kuala Lumpur metropolitan area. #flood #flooding #Malaysia
