We chose this piece by Johann Schop (’t Uitnement kabinet, Amsterdam 1649) to explore the sound world of a Ruckers Double harpsichord in original disposition in combination with a violin. The harpsichord part is notated as a basso continuo line, based on the madrigal “Nasce la pena mia“ by Alessandro Striggio (Il primo libro de madrigali a sei voci, Venice 1565). The violin part is a composed diminution following the canto line of the madrigal. Eva Saladin, violin Johannes Keller, harpsichord Harpsichord by Matthias Griewisch 2016, after I. Ruckers 1638. Artwork by Christian Scheuber. Violin by Daniel Frisch 2017, after Amati. Recorded at Kloster Beinwil, May 2018 Sound: Oren Kirschenbaum Video: Elam Rotem
