A nice gentle walk around Upper Slaughter before walking along the river down to Lower Slaughter. Two sleepy Cotswold villages. The ’Upper’ and ’Lower’ refers to their position along the River Eye as opposed to there elevations. The word ’slaughter’ comes from the Old English word ’slohtre’ which means ’wet land’ or ’marshy place’. So the thankfully the villages have no ties to any kind of dark history. A beautiful walk!
