Slow motion (often abbreviated as slowmo) is photographic effect in film-making whereby time appears to be slowed down. It was invented by the Austrian priest and physicist August Musger (February 10, 1868 - October 30, 1929), who developed a slow motion system using a mirrored drum as a synchronizing mechanism. The slow motion style or effect is achieved when each film frame is captured at a rate much faster than it will be played back. When replayed at normal speed, time appears to be moving more slowly.
