A very special sighting: The marsh owl (Asio capensis) is often missed in the Mara as it tends to perch on the ground or on low posts. It prefers to hunt in the open plains rather than forested or bushy areas, mainly feeding on insects but it can also prey on small rodents and mammals. They also nest in open areas such as the grassy plains and marsh areas, laying just 2-4 eggs amongst tussocks. Luckily, our resident photographer Felix Rome and driver guide Bernard Koros, came across a family of marsh owls, with three chicks early one morning. “I had one of the most memorable wildlife weeks of my life. I spent a week visiting a family of Marsh Owls. It has been my dream to photograph owls in grassland, and it finally happened. I wanted to create a three image story and in this video you seem me capture them“ Video by Felix Rome for Instagram: @governorscampcollection If you are already subscribed to our channel, please subscribe to Felix's ch
