I've always been fond of 2D hand drawn games and so for my graduation work I researched and made a few shaders with which you can create a variety of 2D looks. Here is a showcase video of the main shader in action. I will be posting my paper with a breakdown on it for free on my artstation within the next few days. Hopefully it can help people who are also interested in styles like these/NPR! More info can be found on my artstation: Underneath you can find a ton of additional resources. Beautiful concept by Oswaldo KATO: Special thanks to my supervisor Jordy Lakiere, who is working on his game We Who Are About To Die: Special thanks to Dermott Burns for helping me out with a part of my shader, he also has a 2D stylized shader: Hatching textures by Kamil Hepner, who also has great tutorials for similar styles: Some more resources I've used on this topic: - Kris Kaufman - Stylize Renders with Post Process (Unreal Learning Platform) - Post Processing cel shading live training - PrismaticaDev: Advanced cel shading - Hristo Enchev - Stylized Rendering in Unreal - The Cycle - Layered Materials for Environments (Used for texturing of the scene) - Silke van der Smissen - Lost City (on Layered Materials) - Tommy Tran - Cel shading - GuiltyGearXrd - The X factor between 2D and 3D - Tom Looman - Custom fog The people that inspired me to do this: - Nick Carver: - Nick Carver: - Lotte de Brabanders: - The game “GRIS“ by Nomada studios: - The game “Old Mans Journey“ by Broken Rules - The game “Dordogne“ by UN JE NE SAIS QUOI
