Spent spinners are the last and final stage of mayflies and beatis'. The dying insect lands on the surface for the last time and becomes an easy prey for trout and graylings in the last light of the day. Spinners can be very effective, but the fish often become very selective, which means a realistic imitation in both color and shape can be difference between no fish in the net or succes. In this video, we have the skilled Swedish fly tyer Peder Wigdell behind the flytying vice and doing his magic with the beautiful speckled Coq De Leonn and hi-floatant CDC feathers to create a realistic and well-looking imitation of the eg. the European Ephemera Danica. Hook: Ahrex FW525, Superdry barbless Thread: White Tail: Coq De Leon feather, cut in shape Back: Grey foam Body: Fly-Rite, Adams Gray Wing: CDC feathers, natural grey and light brown Want to know more about Ahrex Hooks?
