Harpsichord built by Eric Herz in 1969 (after Kirkmann, Shudi & Hass) The instrument has two keyboards, six pedals, four choirs of strings and five playing registers. Three are played from the lower manual: 16', 8'1, 4' and two from the upper: 8'n and Nasale. The latter is a separate 8' register designed to produce a somewhat reedy tone due to the close proximity of the plucking point to the keyboard. The harpsichord is nine feet long and the 16' strings have their own separate bridge and sounding board. The plectra are made of delrin. Recorded in Cambridge, Massachusetts, during November 9-15, 1971 under the technical supervision of Nathaniel S. Johnson. 3 Vinyl box released (ca. 1972) by Vox productions SVBX 5447 Liner notes by Francis L. Gramenz (excerpted from the writer's M. A. thesis submitted to the Graduate School, Boston University, 1971). Thanks to Robert Tifft the webmaster of the European Revival Harpsichordists (http://jse
