M/S of a mid 1950s contemporary Mercedes with a vintage car (“an old crock“) coming out of a garage behind it. According to the narrator this is going to be a revolutionary experiment - using the motor car for troop transport. Presumably this is a re-enactment of the first transport of troops by car in 1909. Men in the military costume of the day climb into various vintage cars - they are to be transported to Hastings. Various shots of the “soldiers“ climbing in. High angle shot of large number of vintage cars. Travelling shots of the soldiers in the cars and of the cars leaving the barracks. This run has been organised by the Automobile Association as part of the AA's Golden Jubilee celebrations. 50 veteran cars are taking part - various shots of them travelling along different roads.
