Beautiful!! sacred music “Pie Jesu“ Alessandro Moreschi soprano castrato & Philippe Jaroussky countertenor (2011). -A. Moreschi “The Angel of Roma“ musician castrato Sistine Chapel soloist, , apparently he was the last castrated singer in the history of music - Admission as a teenager to the choir of the Sistine Chapel, and then as a soloist, in total from 1873 until he retired in 1913. He married and had an adopted son, when he died the choir of the Vatican organized and sang at his funeral. He was not an operatic singer but he made some public presentations like when the king of Italy died, he had a few students not castrated but “sopranistas“ who sang the very high notes with the voice of head. His wife died first and when Moreschi also died, he left the inheritance to his son and his pupil the bass player and sopranist singer Domenico Mancini. - Pie Jesu Requiem (Ignace Leybach) the best preserved audio witness to Moreschi's voice record 1902- 1904 more than a century ago. - Pie Jesu this song is by Gabriel Fauré and appears in the mass Requiem, op. 48 (1900). - Philippe Jaroussky (born 13 February 1978) is a french countertenor.
