This is a WIP tool I've been working on in Houdini to create Anime/2D style explosions. The tool is fully automated and no keyframes were done here. No simulations, solvers or DOPs either. Purely SOPs. All parameters are promoted to control directionality, velocity, shape, density, shading, etc. The goal will be to add additional features for heat, dissipation, collisions and then explore if this can be used easily in shots. So far the results are promising.
