Chór Juranda & Orkiestra pod dyr. Arkadi Flato - Weź mnie (I ukryj w swych ramionach) [Take Me / And Hide In Your Arms] Tango z teatru „Banda” (from the revue teatre „Banda”) (J. Petersburski – A. Włast) Odeon 1933 (Polish) NOTE: This tango was performed by Zofia Terne & the Dana Choir on the stage of the Banda cabaret, which was organized in Warsaw by the actors of the famous Qui Pro Quo after its collapse in 1931, and again became very popular. This tango was a big hit for only a short season, and today is completely forgotten, despite the famous name of composer Jerzy Petersburski (author of world-famous hits “Oh Donna Clara“ and “This Is Last Sunday“). Arkadi FLATO was a Polish-Jewish violinist and conductor, one of the pioneers of jazz in Poland (although his favorite genre was Argentine tangos). Born in Poland, he became involved with the German music scene in the 1920s, collaborating with various Berlin dance orchestras. After the Nazis came to power in 1933, he left Germany with his friend Ady Rosner - a famous Krakow jazz trumpeter. In Warsaw, Flato worked as an arranger for Polish Radio orchestras, he had for some time his own dance band and occasionally recorded at Odeon Records (where conductor Jerzy Gert was the music director). During World War II, Arcadi Flato opened the Taverna Café in the Warsaw Ghetto, he also performed as a pianist at the Modern Café in Nowolipki Street in Warsaw, together with Artur Gold's orchestra and another pianist Władysław Szpilman (the hero of Roman Polanski's film “The Pianist“). In 1942, Flato committed suicide during one of the “Endlösung“ actions organized by the Germans during the liquidation of the ghetto. Refrain in ENGLISH: Take me And hide me in your arms; Take me This Spring is so mad; In the scent of lilacs In the melody of simple words of love; a strange longing awakens In hearts of all lonely people. Take me I am so poor and tiny. Take me This Spring is so short, Tomorrow lilacs will fade And our love will wither; You will coldly go away Leaving me with tears.
