In this week's video, we'll continue to look into the history of Mount Everest and mountain climbing with the EARLY 1920's expeditions in which George Mallory and Andrew Irvine made a final summit attempt in 1924, trying to beat incredible odds in order to make it to the summit of Mt. Everest long before the modern technological advantages that come along with a history of a successes and failures. The 1924 British Mount Everest expedition was—after the 1922 British Mount Everest expedition—the 2nd expedition with the goal of achieving the first ascent of Mount Everest. The mountaineers George Mallory and Andrew “Sandy“ Irvine disappeared on the third attempt.
