This is a story told by a resident of Sudzha: her story of escaping the town. The woman’s daughter, son-in-law, and three grandchildren left in the morning of August 6th, but she stayed home, hoping that the shelling would stop soon. But it didn’t. Instead, by the evening, Grad artillery systems and rocket launchers started shelling the town. Explosion after explosion. In the afternoon, there was no signal, no light, no water. Some people walked through the fields with their children. People were leaving the town as best they could.
