Skier rescues snowboarder buried in snow on Mount Baker

While skiing in the backcountry of Mount Baker March 3, Francis Zuber spotted a flash of a red snowboard on his way down the mountain, sticking out of the snow. Footage from Zuber’s GoPro shows his race against time to climb through deep powder and dig out Ian Steger, a lifelong snowboarder, who fell head first into a tree well.
