Emil von Sauer (1862-1942) was not only an elegant, aristocratic virtuoso whose recordings of Liszt are marvellous; he also composed quite a few piano pieces, some of which are still played and recorded today. Here Ania Dorfmann (1899-1984) plays “Echo aus Wien“, a piece that Sauer wrote in a time that virtuosic Waltz paraphrases were quite popular.
