The Lambo 291 is a Formula 1 designed by Mauro Forghieri and used by the Modena Team in the 1991 season. The Lambo 291 is the brainchild of Mauro Forghieri and Mario Tolentino, to whom Lamborghini commissioned the design of a car centered on its LE3512 V12 engine. Forghieri managed to set up a car for the end of 1990, which was then tested, in an unusual blue livery, in Imola by Mauro Baldi. Among its features stood out the triangular side bellies and the inclined radiators. The engine that season, developed around 650 hp (478 kW), while in the configuration for the Mclaren test, in 1993, the engine seems to have reached 760 hp (559 kW). The car turned out to be acceptable and, surprisingly, achieved its best result on its debut at the Phoenix Grand Prix: Nicola Larini qualified in 17th position and finished in 7th place, albeit 3 laps behind the winner Ayrton Senna in a McLaren MP4.
