This is a ciliate in the genus Frontonia, a single cell microbial eukaryote. It’s full of various algae and cyanobacteria it has consumed, in various colors. Upper center is the contractile vacuole. In this time-lapse, the cell lysis. If you look closely at bottom left you can see trichocysts firing. I collected this from a freshwater pond, and sped to 6x time lapse, with 200x DIC microscopy.
