Playing around with the filters and lighting while examining a ciliate. This single cell is in the genus Frontonia. It has ingested numerous types of algae, which shine in this light. It is less than 300 microns in length. The long strand is cyanobacteria. This is life at the bottom of the food chain. Collected from a freshwater Florida pond and viewed with 200X.
